Southern California Emergency Medical Group is a democratic group comprised of 12 residency trained, board certified Emergency Physicians and 12 Advanced Practice Providers. Our ranks include ABEM examiners, clinical faculty from nearby Harbor UCLA, as well as medico-legal experts.

OUR DEDICATION TO PHYSICIAN AND EMPLOYEE WELL-BEING

We want our physicians and APPs to succeed, achieve career satisfaction and longevity. After a proctoring period with a physician member, our MDs and APPS are assigned shifts fairly and equitably. New attendings are assigned a mentor. The majority of MD shifts include double MD coverage with 3 overlapping APP shifts to maintain a reasonable work pace and prevent burnout. Physician and APP happiness and well-being are paramount. Our new attendings join a team of equals and we adhere to the principles of a fully democratic group.

Providence Little Company of Mary Medical Center, San Pedro

Our practice location since 1993, Little Company of Mary San Pedro is a community hospital with an annual volume of approximately 44 thousand patients. Trauma and STEMI transfers are streamlined to the local trauma center and nearby tertiary sister hospital, respectively. Medical cases are often high in acuity and complexity as the ED serves nearby subacute care and skilled nursing facilities.

Our ED is staffed with 16-24 hours of Advanced Practice Providers, who work closely with our physicians as a team.

There is a 24 hour in-house hospitalist program.

The electronic medical record is EPIC along with Dragon dictation.

A new ED expansion is actively in progress which will increase our ED footprint from 16 to 28 monitored beds.

Joining us starts with a partnership track, featuring competitive RVU based reimbursement. The group is led and governed by its physician members in a FULLY DEMOCRATIC structure. Business updates and voting topics are discussed at quarterly meetings that are open to all. Leadership development opportunities are encouraged and available to those interested. Our physicians are owners and business partners. Malpractice insurance is provided.

Many of our physicians live in the surrounding communities, including Manhattan Beach, Redondo Beach, Palos Verdes, and Long Beach where schools are among the best in the state and prime for a growing family.
